MailScreenMX - Spam & Virus Filter

Spam filters provided by most Internet Service Providers let through too much spam and they often block emails that are not spam. They also apply the same rules for everyone - which means that emails that are important to you and not to someone else could be blocked.
MailScreenMX solves these problems like this:
  1. You to set the level of filtering between 1 (lenient) and 10 (hard nosed) depending on whether it's most important to reduce the amount of spam you get or ensure that important emails are not blocked.
  2. You teach the filter each time it misses a spam email. This means it learns based on what you (not a technician in another country) want to block. It also learns very quickly, i.e. as soon as you report an email as spam.
We suggest you start your spam filter on lenient and train it often. It should be blocking most of your spam within a week or 2.

How Do We Set Up MailscreenMX?

Currently you probably have a mailbox at your ISP such as anyware@xtra.co.nz, and all mail sent to your email address (info@anyware.co.nz) is forwarded to your mailbox (anyware@xtra.co.nz). We need to move your mailbox to another provider so we can add the spam filter. We'll manage this so there is no down time and the only person who notices the move is you.
  1. We establish how your current mailbox and mail forwarding are set up so we can't break anything that works now
  2. We transfer your domain name to the domain registrar that provides the mailboxes and spam filter
  3. We set up the mailbox(es) and enable the spam filter
  4. Your email program (MS Outlook) will need an adjustment - we'll send you instructions to update it
  5. We send you instructions for how to use the spam filter
  6. After a week or so we'll check that everything is working smoothly

To compare the cost/benefit follow this simple guideline:
Cost of spam filter per year = $180 (+ one time set up fees)
Cost saving of your time to manually filter spam = t/2 x 52 x $h
Where t is the number of hours per week you spend managing spam (you should save more than 50% of it), h is the value of your time.
For example, 2/2 x 52 x $20 = $1040 (Isn't your time worth more than $20/hour?!)
